Choosing the right lifting air bag is not about picking the biggest tonnage. It is about matching the bag to your working condition — the load, the gap, the lifting height, the pressure system you already own, and the safety margin you are willing to run with. Here is the 7-step checklist we use with our own customers.

1. Confirm the maximum lifting weight

Start with the heaviest load you will ever need to lift on the job — not the average. Select an air bag whose rated lifting capacity is higher than the actual load, and never overload the equipment. When a load is partially blocked or resting unevenly, the bag cannot deliver its full nameplate tonnage, so choose generously.

2. Check the lifting height demand

Different thicknesses of lifting air bag have different maximum lifting heights. Make sure the final lifting stroke can meet your operation requirement — for example whether you need to clear a tire for replacement, or lift a beam high enough to slide a support block underneath. If a single bag's stroke is not enough, plan for multi-layer stacking of bags.

3. Pay attention to working pressure

The standard working pressure for most rescue lifting air bags is 0.8 MPa. Your supporting air compressor, control system and hoses must match the rated pressure of the bag — a 1.3 MPa Kevlar bag needs a system rated for 1.3 MPa, and a 0.8 MPa bag should never be fed with a higher-pressure line without a reducer.

4. Consider the application scenario

Thin, low-profile air bags suit narrow-gap jacking, while multi-layer bags are for large-height lifting. Fire-rescue type bags require wear-resistant, anti-puncture rubber-reinforced material. Think about where the bag will actually be inserted and what it will rub against.

5. Verify product certification

Priority should be given to products with relevant safety certification. Check the production specification, the test report and the service-life parameters before ordering. A certified manufacturer will provide batch test reports on request.

6. Match the accessories

Confirm that the supporting air hoses, control valves, quick couplings and air-source devices are complete and compatible with your bag. Mixed-brand systems often fail at the connection point, not the cushion.

7. Reserve a safety margin

Always reserve a sufficient safety margin for both load and stroke. Avoid working under the limit state of the air bag — a cushion running at its nameplate maximum is a cushion with no margin for the unexpected.
